Choosing the right diameter

For table/desk lamps: a good rule is a shade diameter roughly equal to the lamp base height divided by 3.

• Small bases (≤30 cm high) → 20–25 cm shade
• Medium bases (35–45 cm) → 30–35 cm shade
• Large bases (50–60 cm) → 40–45 cm shade
• XL floor lamps (≥65 cm) → 50 cm+ shade

Height of the shade

Shade height typically equals 2/3 to 3/4 of the diameter. Example: a 30 cm drum usually has 20–22 cm height.

Shapes & where they shine

• Drum: modern, works almost everywhere.
• Empire: classic flare, softens the light downward.
• Rectangular / Oval: great for consoles and narrow spaces.
• Coolie: wide spread of light for reading or task lighting.

Fittings (UK)

• Pendant (ceiling): shade hangs from the ceiling rose.
• Table/Floor (lamp base): shade sits on a base.

All Lumina Hub shades include a UK standard ring with reducer for B22/E27 as needed.

Bulb recommendations

Use LED warm white (2700–3000K). Max 10W LED recommended; check your lamp holder rating.
